As I’ve already said I’m not really sure how far I can cycle day on day so won’t be booking accommodation in advance but once I do I will add them here and review them. I’m also carrying a Hunka bivvy bag on the off chance I cant get accommodation – I’ll rough it for the night 😦

Pre ride: Trevescan Hamlet – ****

Great hostel accommodation for pre ride. Great location and Owner very helpful. Brand new so very tidy. Shared shower. £23/ night B&B

1st night: Okehampton – ****

Up a steep hill but afforded great views. Upgraded to family room (no extra cost) with four poster and balcony. Owner dried my clothes and made porridge instead of fry up for breakfast. Shared bath. No wifi. £28/night B&B

2nd night: Bristol – Chris Harveys (ex-colleague) house *****

Great catch up and great hosts – brought back lots of memories, hopefully catch up again soon. Great riverside location

3rd night: RAF Shawbury – bunk **

Very basic but free. Good nafi for breakfast.

4th night: Blackburn – Darren (doing lejog with me for 3 days) and Elka’s house *****

Elka was the perfect host and made me feel very welcome in their lovely home. Porridge breakfast always a bonus

5th night: Ecclefechen – In-laws caravan with  family *****

Great to see the family again although might have made next day harder to leave

6th night: Clydeview Guest House, Milton (nr Dumbarton) ****

Owner washed and dried my cycling clothes (thank you), good breakfast and great value restaurant/pub almost next door. £46 for twin (for 2 of us)

7th night: Fort William – Youth hostel ***

Shared facilities and in 1 of 4 double bunks. Basic but functional. Stables restaurant below nice evening meal and breakfast

8th night: Avoch, Black Isle – Ardvreckan B&B ****

Up a steep hill but made to feel at home in the owners house. Shared shower. Most expensive stay at £40 for single occupancy of double room.

9th and last night: Wick *****

Really cyclist friendly and owners very knowledgeable of area. Shared shower. Good breakfast. Free wifi. £27/night
